Love, Jossie

“Dear NICU Mama,

Your family-building journey may look different than the one you imagined, but I hope you know there is no better caregiver for your family than you.

You may struggle with letting go of the expectation of what you thought this season of your life would look like, but I want you to know your heart has and will continue to carry you along the way.

Don’t feel rushed in your journey to healing. Let it come to you.

On days when your mind seems like it’s neither here nor there, I want you to know that in moments of uncertainty, you are doing the best you can. No one could have prepared you for the dips and turns you have undergone, and still, you continue to overcome.

Perhaps your journey seems never-ending, but please remember there is a version of you that is so proud of how far you’ve come.”

Love,
Jossie

More of Jossie + Her Daughter’s NICU Journey:

“June 4, 2021, was the day our greatest blessing Hannah Sarai was born. At birth, Hannah had been diagnosed with VACTERL Syndrome, and being first-time parents, we really didn’t know what the rest of her upbringing would look like as Hannah was also born with missing limbs. We spent a total of 285 days between the NICU, PICU, and rehabilitation center. The journey has been long and at times painfully hard. Through our hospitalization, Hannah ended up needing a tracheostomy and a feeding tube placed, and although these were not easy decisions to make, we were willing to do whatever it took to help her thrive and make her way home. Nearly one year later after our discharge, we couldn’t be more in awe of how far our girl has come. Although our medical journey has not completely come to an end yet, our NICU story is a part of our journey that we can look back on and say we truly have come so very far.”
