Love, Jasmine
“Dear NICU Mama, On your hardest days, I hope you know that you are enough.
You are enough if you barely make it through the day.
You are enough if you can’t make it to the NICU because you need a day off.
You are enough if you have to go back to work while your child is in the NICU.
You are enough if your pumping journey doesn’t go as planned.
You are enough if your baby is having a rough day.
You are enough for your baby; you are exactly what they need.”
Love,
Jasmine
More of Jasmine + Trey + Jeremiah’s NICU Journey:
“My twins, Trey and Jeremiah were born at 25 weeks and 3 days gestation. They were born after a fetal surgery caused a full placenta abruption. The NICU was hard watching them fight so hard. Trey was born at 2LBS and Jeremiah only weight 1lb 1oz. Day in and day out I prayed and prayed for them to make it through the night as I went home for the day.
NICU was a rollercoaster, Jeremiah coded right in front of me when I was pumping in the room. The image will never leave me. Watching someone to chest compressions on a 2lb baby is rough. The hallways were filled with staff just watching. Trey had a PDA closed and was successfully extubabted a few weeks later.
Trey spent 151 days in NICU. He came home with no oxygen, but he did have a feeding tube (NG). He got rid of it after about three weeks. Jeremiah spent 349 days in the NICU. He has a trach and gtube.
NICU is tough, but I gained a family there and after being home for over a year, I miss them. I miss the nurses, doctors, housekeepers, maintenance etc.. They got me through some pretty tough times. The NICU is a place that you never forget. It will be with me for the rest of my life.”
